After reading Mark Obmascik's book "The Big Year: A Tale of Man, Nature and Fowl Obsession" about the obsessive quests of three birders to set the record for seeing the most species of birds in the continental US in one year, I was bitten by the bug myself. This blog constitutes my life list. I only count a bird if I have a clear photograph of it.

Cattle Egret, Squaw Creek NWR, October 2011
There has been a group of cattle egrets hanging around at Squaw Creek NWR for the last month. They have been very cooperative about posing for pictures. I've never seen a wild bird that was as approachable as these egrets.
