Lake Remembrance, Blue Springs 3/27/2011
I was entertained by this bird. Every two steps, it had to bob its tail downward. Then take two more steps. Bob tail downward. Rinse. Repeat.

Cooper's Hawk, Burroughs Audubon Center, Fleming Park.
You knew immediately whenever the Cooper's showed up because all the birds at the feeders made a beeline for the brush.

I had the day off today, so I felt like a little drive. My first stop, Eagle Bluffs CA, where I found this Great Blue Heron enjoying a tasty snack. I went on to Grand Pass CA, then on to Swan Lake NWR. Lots of Snipe, Pintails, Coots, Mallards but not many shorebirds other than Lesser Yellowlegs.

I pay good money for Flickr service, and I must say I'm not pleased. WTH...I click on the blank picture and it goes right to the Flickr page for that picture and everything is OK.

I ran down there for lunch today and was rewarded with this juvenile Herring Gull. There was a very thin layer of ice, and the ring-billed gulls were just fine, but this fellow kept breaking through, which was rather comical.
